MISSION STATEMENT
The Fantasy Writers' Association is a community of writers dedicated to producing original fantasy, developing an individual style, and cultivating the writing habit (sort of).

NEW MEMBERS
If you want to join, you must write original fantasy and be an active member, otherwise you will be bumped off the member list. There are a couple of other rules, as well: don't spam, and try as much as possible to use correct punctuation, grammar, and spelling.

That having been said, welcome, fellow fantasy writer. Please write a short, concise paragraph that introduces yourself to the rest of us. Include your name or online alias (whichever you'd like us to use), age, gender, hobbies, finished projects, working projects, your writing experience, your inspirations, and anything you'd like us to know or that is relevant to that which is F.W.A. If you're extremely paranoid, all we really need is your gender, because that helps enormously with pronouns. Smile

Old thread here.

We spent six months on that thread... <sniff> Tongue

And if you're too lazy to check the last bit of that thread, the only real thing of significance that got discussed was that banners are coming later this week. Tongue

True. Not like a lot of threads, where half of the posts are things like, "Hi, how is everybody!" or, even worse, "bump". *shudders*

About New Year's resolutions...not procrastinating would be a good one, except it's already gone down the tubes, as I'm procrastinating doing homework by writing this post. (I still think that teachers are defeating the purpose of vacation when they give us homework.)

So my resolution is to write every day, even if it's just 100 words. Having a laptop will make that a lot easier, but I'll probably have more trouble with it when school starts up again. Also, I think I'm going to try Embodiment, where you write in a journal every day for the whole year. I need to get back into writing in my journal. Join me if you wish. :-D

Yup, yup. I suppose I should get back to the homework I'm procrastinating on. Tata!

Hehe, F.W.A.'s bump is always Queenie trying her best to start another discussion or answer someone else's question in full. Kiss

<gasp> Someone's caught on to me! Tongue

I used to keep a diary... wrote in it everyday for about five years, except for some vacations. Then I stopped. It became more like a chore to me--trying to find something to write about. It was a great chronology of my life's events, but not really anything other than that.

I could never keep a writing journal. It's something weird with me: Ideas never hit me from all sides. What happens is that I get a single idea that's so overpowering that I write it about a hundred different ways (I'm exaggerating, obviously Dork) before I settle on something that I think I'll like--and even then, that will probably change. Or that's what I think. It's only happened twice, and it was more severe the second time around... It makes me think I'll probably not do well if I decide to take up writing as a full-time job. Not that my family would let me, of course... my grandfather's prepared to pay for my law school education--after I get my degree in computer science. Rolling Eyes According to him, it'd be a waste if I went for anything less.

I could never keep a diary either. I wrote in one for a couple of days and then forgot about it. The longest I've ever have written in was about a week, I think. I guess I never have liked writing about my days.

Interestingly the only kind of journal I've ever been able to keep is an online journal. Confused I do have notebooks for when I get struck by sudden inspiration, but I wouldn't call them writing journals because I have everything in them from story ideas to sketches to poems to songs.

Yeah, I keep my online journal updated a lot. I just put random things about my day into it. Emotions I keep to myself unless I'm really emotional. And if I have a creative burst, I usually just use a scrap piece of paper for it. I'm too lazy to get my notebook that I have designated for that sort of thing. Hasn't happened recently, though.

Ditto with the creative burst. I can never keep a notebook. I do have a notepad handy for when I'm out and about and I need something to write on--whether it's for a creative burst or other purposes--and I do carry a small notebook when I go on vacation, simply because it's bigger than my notepad ('cause my notepad is really tiny). But other than that? Looseleaf, all the way. Cool

I should be writing right now, but I'm too lazy...

I loose everything that isn't in a notebook, so there you go. Tongue

I pride myself on my (not very good) organizational skills, so there you go. Tongue

I think I'm going to write. Just one last question before I go--how does one person (who has the help of two others) get into a guarded room with only one entrance if the guards would recognize her instantly and receive her not very nicely? (It's also dinner time. I.e., busy time, and not lazy night time.)

They could go Mission Impossible-style and break a hole in the roof, they could attempt to hide said person under one of the other people's cloak, but the guards would have to be extremely stupid.... What kind of room is it? Is there a way the other two people could bring a cart or a very large basket into the room without causing suspicion? She could hide there I guess...

Hmm...*thinks*...
